3 tech tools to boost learning
Hello everyone,
First, 🇺🇦 0-4 🏴. Come on England!
On that note, Clemmentine Stewart said it best this week:
“If Gareth Southgate was an HT, he’d be the type to make every conversation a coaching one; he’d put cakes in the staff room ‘just because’; he’d cover you so you could be somewhere you really needed to be and his feedback would always be constructive. You’d even enjoy his assembly.”
Second, the highlights from the community this week have aligned perfectly with a common thread.
That thread is technology boosting learning.
We - schools - Are In Beta - always learning.
This week:
📅 Curriculum Thinking Week 2021 - starts tomorrow. Don’t miss it.
📝 The MS Teams Roll On - pitfalls you may not have considered.
🧵 Retrieval based home learning - tools and plans shared.
📅 Curriculum Thinking Week 2021 - starts tomorrow.
‘What does technology have to do with Curriculum Thinking Week 2021? And boosting learning in schools?’
Well, imagine being able to ask all the senior leaders in your network who their brightest subject leaders are, what it is they’re most proud of that’s making the biggest difference in their departments. Then arranging time to hear all about it from over 100 subject leaders.
Now imagine doing that before the internet and, dare I say it, before We Are In Beta existed…
How long would that take? A year? Two? Longer?
Well, starting on Monday, you can do it in a just 5 days.
Join us for Curriculum Thinking Week 2021:
100+ brilliant subject leaders
15 subjects
discussing how they’re developing ultra specific aspects of their curricula AND…
sharing all the resources that help them do it
Watch all the talks and access all the shared resources in the Curriculum Thinking Conference Space…
📝 The MS Teams Roll On.
Google schools, jump to the next item. Nothing for you here. Sorry :)
Microsoft schools, this is well worth a read to make sure this piece of tech keeps boosting learning next year.
“A number of schools might be trying to roll-on their Teams for the first time this year. Last year you might not have invested too much time into the Team and thought you would just make a new one, makes sense. But what happens now if you have spent a year adding resources to the File tab and you want to add that to a new Team? Also, what happens when you have copies of resources in a directory that you maintain and then resources in Files in a Team...oh it gets confusing.”
Head of Computer Science, Christopher Harris, shares the pitfalls you want to avoid and the 5 key steps you need to take to ensure a smooth MS Teams roll to next year.
🧵 Retrieval based homework approaches.
Tina Delaney (Associate Assistant Principal):
“Reviewing our home learning policy. Anyone implemented retrieval based online home learning, that is willing to share?
“We have pulled together a list of tools, plans to create videos and some parental events. Happy to share if anyone wants to see.”
Find out how she and several other school leaders are approaching retrieval based home learning…
